About The Role

The Role
The Building Surveyor apprentice is expected to support the Surveying team, they are to work with the surveying team to provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of building types and sites. You will be responsible for the following:
Working with the Surveying team to inspect and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites.
Inspections to involve acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
To prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications.
To design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and to current technical standards.
To develop an understanding and apply other relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning.
At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulation

You will study the Level 6 Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship (Building Surveyor Pathway) at Nottingham Trent University. The duration of your Degree Apprenticeship is based on a typical 30-hour working week, with 6 hours per week being used for off-the-job training. This will be delivered via one day per week on campus at Nottingham Trent University. You will complete the course in 5 years.

The Person

 Entry Requirements: Applicants for this course will need to meet the standard BSc (Hons) Building Surveying FT/SW entry  qualifications: 120 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications, GCSES – English and Maths grade C/4
Some experience and working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements and technical publications
Some experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation
Experience of working to deadlines
The ability to think methodically.
Creative problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 
Please note this position is to start in September 2025.
