About The Role

The Role
PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS TO START IN 2025. INTERVIEWS WILL TAKE PLACE SPRING 2025

The Apprentice Engineer is expected to support the Engineering Line Manager and is responsible for handling projects within own level of authority. 
 
You will be responsible for the following:
Assisting the Engineering team with preparation of reports, calculations, design and preparation of drawings 
Assisting the Engineering team to provide technical advice to clients 
Assisting the Engineering team to obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval 
Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors 
Liaising with other professionals such as architects
Assisting the Engineering team to maintain client relationships by providing excellent customer service and managing expectations
Assisting the Engineering team with inspection and surveys of client properties and sites.
Assisting the Engineering team to ensure that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Part wall, Listed buildings.
Inspection and surveys of client properties and sites.
Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects 
At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations

You will study for the Level 6 Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship at Nottingham Trent University duration of your Degree Apprenticeship is based on a typical 30-hour working week, with 6 hours per week being used for off-the-job training. This will be delivered via one day per week on campus at Nottingham Trent University. You will complete the course in 5 years.

The Person
 
• Entry Requirements: 120 UCAS Tariff points from up to three A-levels or equivalent qualifications, including an A-level grade C equivalent in Maths and excluding General Studies; or
from BTEC National Diploma (18 Units) in an Engineering subject. Applicants must gain Merit grades in both the Mathematics for Technicians AND Further Mathematics for Technicians units if they do not have a grade C in A-level Mathematics; or
Merit from T-level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction; or
A successfully completed Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Civil Engineering Technician
 And GCSES – English and Maths grade C/4

Some experience and working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements, technical publications
Some experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regs legislation
Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets 
Sound mathematical,scientific and IT skills
The ability to think methodically to problem solve and manage projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of relevant legislation
